Moving forward in 2011, we see an expanding focus on growing U.S. exports, especially from the U.S. to Asia. We base that on President Obama’s National Export Initiative that, he said, “will help farmers and small businesses increase their exports. We have to seek new markets aggressively. We will strengthen our trade relations in Asia.”
As a result of the export initiative, we anticipate the transportation industry will continue to transform from a predominantly U.S. import-based transportation-logistics model to a more balanced import-export model.
With the robust economic growth of many Asian countries, China’s burgeoning middle class, a dollar value favorable to exports, and the U.S. National Export Initiative aimed at doubling U.S. exports by 2015, we strongly believe we will see transformative changes in the transportation system between the U.S. and Asia as U.S. export volume and trade value increase.
